Star Trails: 2008.08.12

Polaris, the star in which the others appear to pivot around, is 430 light years away.

50minute exposure, 2:30am - 3:20am. This was to be the peak for the Perseid meteor shower, however I only caught several faint meteors during this time. You may notice the star trails fade out, this effect is due to condensation collecting on the UV filter during the exposure.

This image is a composite of several hundred frames. View a timelapse video of this starry sky -- enjoy the meteors! :)
